Lysistrata – smíření

Lysistrata is a comedy about a sex strike by women that forces men to stop a war — men like to fight, but they prefer sex even more, and in that they're no different from the women. Aristophanes staged the play in 411 BC, in the middle of the war between Athens and Sparta; Lysistrata's dream of peace was never fulfilled, and the exhausting war ended in defeat for Athens, yet the play still provokes today and remains relevant thanks to never-ending armed conflicts. This ancient comedy, in a new verse translation by Petr Šourek, brims with humour and jokes about women, men, activists and patriots; Miroslav Bambušek's production is a wild original farce that pokes fun at everyone, as Aristophanes intended.
