Samanta Schweblin: Mimo dosah

An Argentine province a few hundred kilometres from the capital is the setting for the meeting of Amanda, who flees the city with her daughter for the calm of the countryside, and Carla, mother of the mysterious David — a boy who plays strange games in the garden and stands too close to the exhausted Amanda. Tomáš Loužný's production is based on Samanta Schweblin's 2014 novella, which uses uncompromising narration to capture an exhausting and often destructive relationship between mother and child, the constant shift between fear and joy, and the anxious measuring of the safe distance between people and nature.
