The Moonstone

This Czech-Icelandic adaptation of Sjón's novel follows Máni, a lonely boy whose life is shaped by his sexual orientation, lack of family support and desire for freedom. Set in Reykjavík near the end of the First World War, the story places Iceland's struggle for independence alongside the Spanish flu epidemic and the eruption of Katla. Máni finds refuge in the city's first cinemas and forms a fateful bond with Sól.
