First Friday: I, Of Course, Was Livid—Reading & Conversation

I, Of Course, Was Livid is a work of documentary theater built from a 1992 federal hearing transcript in which women living with HIV demanded that the CDC revise its exclusionary definition of AIDS. Each performance adds a new Voice of the Present, building an ongoing archive of first-person narratives about life with HIV across the 20th and 21st centuries. The piece was co-created by Theodore Kerr and Elizabeth Koke for the collective What Would an HIV Doula Do?, drawing on a transcript held in the Judy Sisneros ACT UP/Los Angeles Records at the ONE Archives.
