Annie Ernaux: Obyčejná žena
From individual fragments, Annie Ernaux's book Obyčejná žena (A Woman's Story) assembles the life of her mother, who came from a poor working-class background in the town of Yvetot — a ritual against the fading of memory. Through precise, evocative language, the French writer examines her relationship to a world from which her education and way of life gradually estranged her. Eliška Říhová's production asks how the process of remembering actually works, and how something physical, something you can touch, can connect us to a person who is absent or invisible.
